Our Approach
Reggio Emilia — play is a child's most important job
Wisely Child Care is a structured play-based program inspired by Reggio Emilia. We believe children learn best through hands-on exploration — that is one of the primary ways they make sense of the world around them. When children enjoy what they're learning, learning becomes joyful and lasting.
Our environment invites children to explore at their own pace, free from judgment. Teachers scaffold and help expand each child's interests rather than directing from the front. Children are capable of making decisions themselves, and we respect that capability every day.
We understand that exploration means getting clothes a little dirty, taking supervised risks, and discovering the world firsthand. We are committed to a safe, stimulating space that supports every child's growth and confidence.
Bilingual Learning
English & Cantonese — two languages, one community
Wisely SF provides English and Chinese (Cantonese) teaching materials throughout the day. Children naturally use a blend of both languages to communicate, count, sing, and connect — laying a rich bilingual foundation during the years when language acquisition is most effortless.
Our bilingual environment reflects the diversity of San Francisco and helps every child feel that their language and culture are celebrated. We welcome all children and families, regardless of linguistic background.
Daily Rhythm
A typical day at Wisely SF
Our days follow a warm, predictable rhythm — Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM— balancing active play, quiet rest, nutritious meals, and outdoor adventure.
* Bathroom breaks are adjusted to meet each child's individual needs.

Meet Winifred
Winifred Zhou, Director
Yong Jun “Winifred” Zhou holds a BA in Child Development from San Francisco State University, is CPR-certified, and has been caring for San Francisco children since 2010. She founded Wisely SF on the belief that every child deserves a warm, stimulating home away from home.
