Every family wonders: what does my child actually do all day? At Wisely SF we love that question, and we love answering it. Our days follow a warm, predictable rhythm — Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM — that balances active play, quiet rest, nourishing meals, and plenty of outdoor adventure.
Morning Arrival (8:00 – 9:00 AM)
The day begins gently. Children arrive, hang up their bags, and settle into free-choice play — building with blocks, exploring the art shelf, or simply watching what a friend is up to. This unstructured opening gives every child a chance to transition from home to school at their own pace.
Breakfast & Morning Hygiene (9:00 – 9:30 AM)
We gather around the table for a home-cooked breakfast together. After eating, children brush their teeth and take bathroom breaks. These routines are practiced with care every single day — because independence with daily hygiene is one of the most important skills a young child can build.
Large Group & Morning Circle (9:30 – 10:00 AM)
The whole group comes together for our morning meeting. We sing, count, talk about the day ahead, and sometimes learn a few words in Cantonese. This is when the community of our little classroom really comes alive.
Park Time (10:00 – 11:15 AM)
We lace up our shoes and head out! We are lucky to be surrounded by two beautiful parks, and we visit one of them every single morning — weather permitting (and sometimes even when it's drizzling, with the right rain gear). Running, climbing, balancing, and simply being outside in the fresh San Francisco air is irreplaceable for growing bodies and curious minds.
Return & Wash Up (11:15 AM – 12:00 PM)
After the walk back to school, children wash hands and take bathroom breaks. This transition time is calm and unhurried.
Lunch (12:00 – 12:30 PM)
Lunch is a home-cooked, nut-free meal served family style. Children practice serving themselves with tongs and spoons, pour their own water, and eat with silverware. After lunch: brush teeth again. Yes, twice a day — every day!
Rest & Quiet Time (12:30 – 3:00 PM)
Rest time is sacred. Younger children nap; older children engage in quiet, calm activities like looking at books or doing puzzles. The room is dim, the music is soft, and the pace slows right down.
Afternoon Snack & Play (3:00 – 3:30 PM)
A light, nourishing snack — fruit, crackers, edamame, or something similar — gives everyone an energy boost before the afternoon stretches of play.
Small Groups & Departures (3:30 – 6:00 PM)
The afternoon is our richest time for small-group projects: art, sensory exploration, counting games, science experiments, or music. As families begin arriving for pick-up, Winifred shares a quick update on how the day went. We believe open communication is one of the most important things we offer.
